Students requesting advanced placement will receive an Advanced Placement Exam instead of their first lesson. The exam is downloadable from this site, and will be due 2 months from the completion of the registration process.
After reviewing your Exam, I (Joe Landwehr) will provide detailed feedback in a phone consultation, and recommend a plan of study within the basic course structure.
The first-year contract for advanced students includes:
Information about the annual student gathering (usually held in October) will be sent well in advance, so that you can make travel arrangements.
At the same time, it is expected that you will complete about six lessons per year, or about one every two months. If you fall significantly short of this goal, together we will re-evaluate, and come up with an alternate plan.
If at this time, it looks like it would be in your best interest or the best interest of the School for you to discontinue your studies, you will receive a pro-rated refund for any lessons not taken plus the workshop fee, if unattended, minus a $60 administrative fee.
If, for example, you leave the course after four lessons, without having taken the annual workshop, the pro-rated refund would be $580 (2 lessons untaken x $140 per lesson + $360 for the untaken workshop – the $60 administration fee). If you leave after four lessons, after having taken the annual workshop, the pro-rated refund would be $220 (2 lessons untaken x $140 per lesson – the $60 administration fee).
Each lesson in this course comes with a money-back guarantee. You can receive your money back for any lesson with which you are dissatisfied. Please request your refund in writing and explain why you are dissatisfied before receiving your next lesson.
If for any reason, you find this course does not meet your needs, you are free to cancel at any time, and receive a full refund for lessons paid for, but not taken. Please notify The School of your intention to quit, and your reason for wanting to do so.

- one 90-minute phone consultation in response to the homework for each lesson (9 h total)
- participation in one 3-day annual student gathering
- a copy of The Seven Gates of Soul: Reclaiming the Poetry of Everyday Life

Information about the annual student gathering (usually held in October) will be sent well in advance, so that you can make travel arrangements.
- If you are a US or Canadian student, there will be no refund for not attending these workshops.
- If you live outside the US or Canada, refund will be considered on an individual basis.
